Heritage High’s 2023 semi formal dance was a hit, and the turnout was great, with many students coming dressed and ready to party.

The dance was held at the Hayloft in Hoagland on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023 from 8pm-11pm. Semi formal tickets were sold all throughout the week before, with a cost of $20 at school and $25 at the door.

Many students danced the night away, including high school students from freshman to seniors. Many students enjoyed their time. Sophomore Devin Clopton stated, “The dance was fun. I wish there were more like it. I danced, caught up with friends and overall had a bunch of fun!”

Many danced on the dance floor and cooled off downstairs in the refreshment room where water and many other drinks were served.

There was a standing ovation for the DJ, Heritage PE teacher, Nico Tigulis, who had many good songs playing from the time the dance started to the time it ended. Tigulis stated, “I had a blast DJ’ing. When the crowd has fun, I have fun. I had a lot of fun and would love to DJ next year.”

Even the teachers chaperoning had a wonderful time. Mrs. Shovlin, a teacher chaperoning, stated, “It was very good. Everyone looked very nice in their formal wear. It also looked like everyone had fun. It was a fun time with Mr. Tigulis DJ’ing.”

Principal, Mrs. Becky Christensen, said, “The dance was lovely. It looked like the students had a wonderful time. The teachers who planned the dance had a wonderful time and did a great job planning the event. I love seeing the students having fun during school events. I am absolutely excited for the semi formal next year.”

Without a doubt, it can be said from teachers and students alike that the semi formal dance was wonderful and they can't wait for next year's event.

Now, students can look forward to the 2023 Prom, which will be held on Saturday, April 29 at The Mirage in Decatur.
